FREEVisitor Tracking and account attribution

Visitor Tracking: See which companies visit your site.
Hand the right people to an agent.

Salestools names companies when a visit comes from a company network, and people when they identify themselves, then lets you hand the ones that matter to AI agents that research, write and follow up. Visits, outreach and CRM stages build one account timeline with multi-touch attribution.

Visitor Tracking and attribution are free. Usage limits apply.

From a visit to a conversation

A visit in. A next step out.

Salestools tracking handles the first two jobs. You and your agents handle the third.

01

A visit becomes a company

When the network behind a visit belongs to a company, Salestools can name it and show what the account has been reading. Most visits stay anonymous.

  • Precision first: low-confidence matches are hidden
  • Pages, source, location and return visits per company
  • Known bots and shared devices are flagged
02

Some visitors tell you who they are

A person is named when they give their email in a form on your site. When they come back, they can be recognised as the same person.

  • The details they gave you, plus company facts that can be matched
  • Most profiles show how the person was identified
  • People are named only after they identify themselves
03

A person becomes a conversation

Hand the people who matter to an AI agent, or find more of the right people at the same company.

  • Add identified people with an email to an AI agent
  • Find more of the right people at that company
  • See how credit is shared across the touches before each stage
Know the person

Their activity on your site, in one place.

When a visitor identifies themselves, their profile shows the pages, sources and return visits recorded for them. Your reps start with context, not a cold open.

  • Why you know them. Most profiles show how the person was identified: a form or a return visit.
  • What they looked at. Pages viewed, total visits, time on site, and when they were first and last seen.
  • Where they came from. Source, campaign and location where the visit carries them.
  • Who else works there. Find more of the right people at the same company. When attribution already knows the person, open their buyer journey.

Agents follow up

You pick the visitors. Agents do the follow-up work.

Salestools runs agents that research an account, write the message and follow up across email and LinkedIn. Visitor Tracking is how you decide who they talk to.

Hand a visitor to an AI agent

Select identified people with an email on the People tab and add them to an agent that starts from your contacts. It researches the account, writes outreach and follows up on email and LinkedIn. In CoPilot you approve each message; in AutoPilot it sends within the limits you set.

Find more people at the company

A company is rarely one person. Pick the companies that visited, find the right people there, save them to your leads and add them to an agent. Credits per person are shown before you confirm.

Research a company that visited

Start Deep Research on a company that visited, from your contacts or from Olivia, and read the findings with their sources before anyone reaches out. Research uses credits.

Ask for the story

Ask Olivia, the in-app assistant, or any MCP-compatible AI assistant who has been visiting and what an account has done. Reading identified people this way uses credits, and MCP access is part of Team and Pod plans.

Agents, prospect data and sending run on Salestools plans and credits. See pricing and how the agents work.

Attribution included

One account. One timeline.

Website visits from matched companies, plus the email, LinkedIn, calls and meetings recorded by Salestools, your calendar and your CRM, are laid out by contact. Pick a model and watch the credit move.

W-shaped: Direct 60%, Paid Social 30%, Organic Search 4%, Outbound Email 3%, LinkedIn Outreach 3%

Website visits and CRM stages come from your tracking script and CRM. Email, LinkedIn, call and first-reply touches appear when you run that outreach from Salestools.

What attribution covers

Built for account-based reporting.

Multi-touch, account-based attribution across visits, outreach and CRM deals, included with Visitor Tracking.

One timeline per account

A lane for every contact, anonymous visits grouped by country, and company activity, with stages marked on the time axis.

Credit for each stage

See how credit is shared across the touches before a first reply, a first meeting, an opportunity or a closed-won deal.

Seven models, side by side

Compare first touch, last touch, linear, U-shaped, W-shaped, time decay and data-driven credit for the same journey.

Your outreach is already in it

Email and LinkedIn you send from Salestools, dialer calls, and meetings from your connected calendar or CRM are recorded as touches, with the teammate who reached out.

CRM stages and value

Opportunities and closed deals come from Salesforce and HubSpot, so credit can be read against deal value.

The buying group

See who at the account engaged and their likely role, estimated from job title and seniority.

  • First touch
  • Last touch
  • Linear
  • U-shaped
  • W-shaped
  • Time decay
  • Data-driven

Data-driven needs at least 30 converting journeys for a stage. Until then it shows linear credit and says so. More about account attribution.

Set up

One script tag.

Add one script tag to the head of your site, or publish it through your tag manager. It works on any site where you can add a script.

  1. Add the script

Open Visitor Tracking in the app. It creates a key for your site and gives you the script tag with the key filled in.

  2. Check data is arriving

The app shows a message once your account has visitor data. It cannot tell which site sent it, so open your own site, then check Visitor Tracking for the new visit.

  3. Watch it fill in

Companies appear when visits come from company networks, people appear when visitors identify themselves, and account journeys build as CRM deals and outreach are connected.

It is JavaScript, so a page has to load it. Ad blockers and browser tracking protection reduce counts.

Get your script

Example: the app generates your full tag
<!-- Salestools Visitor Tracking -->
<script src="https://marketing.salestools.io/assets/st.js?api_key=YOUR_SITE_KEY"></script>
In the app, once your account has visitor data: “We’re receiving data from your site”
Straight answers

Clear about what’s known. Straight about what isn’t.

A tool that names companies and people should be clear about how it does it. Here is what to expect.

What you get

  • Precision first. Low-confidence company matches are hidden. A match can still be wrong, for example on shared or reused networks.
  • People who raise their hand. Named from forms on your site, and recognised as returning visitors on your site. Return recognition is a best match.
  • Bot filtering. Known bots, automated traffic and shared devices are flagged and left out of attribution. The filter is heuristic, so some noise can remain.
  • An account story you can inspect. Source, campaign (when the visit is tagged) and timestamp on each web touch, plus a Data coverage view of what has been imported.
  • Your teammates on the timeline. See who reached out and when, for email and LinkedIn sent from Salestools, dialer calls and meetings.
  • Slack alerts. Connect Slack and choose a channel, and Salestools posts when a visit is matched to a company, when someone identifies themselves on your site, or when a known visitor returns. A visitor triggers at most one new-visitor and one returning-visitor alert per hour. Alerts are set up in the separate Salestools visitor tool at marketing.salestools.io, with its own sign-in.
  • A way out for your data. Identified people (with an email) you hand to an agent that starts from your contacts are saved to My Leads, which exports to CSV, HubSpot, Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics at 1 credit per lead. An audience of people already in My Leads who visited your site or a page downloads as a CSV. On the Team and Pod plans MCP can read your visitors, and the API (Pod plan) can too; both use credits for each newly revealed person or company. What is included depends on your plan.

What it doesn’t do

  • No cold names. Salestools names the company when the network behind a visit belongs to one, but it does not reveal which person an anonymous visitor is. A person is named only after they identify themselves.
  • Most visits stay anonymous. A company is named when the network behind a visit belongs to one, or when a visitor gives a business email in a form. Home, mobile, VPN and shared-office networks usually do not point to a company, so many real visits stay unidentified.
  • No ad impressions or ad spend. Paid visits are recognised from click IDs and UTM tags. Impressions, spend and ROAS are not part of attribution.
  • Not a live feed. When a visit comes from a company network, Salestools usually names the company within seconds of the page view. The Visitor Tracker in the app shows visits when you open or refresh it and can trail your site by a few minutes; its recent-visitors list covers the last 30 minutes. Attribution imports about every 30 minutes and CRM deals are pulled about hourly, so a stage can trail your CRM by an hour or more.
  • No automatic hand-off. You choose which visitors go to an agent.
  • Slack only for alerts. There are no email or push alerts, no alert rules (for example on a specific page), no in-app visitor notifications and no outbound visitor webhooks. Slack alerts are set up outside the main Salestools app, in the separate visitor tool.
  • No one-click exports or CRM push. Visitors are not pushed to your CRM automatically, and attribution credit is not written back to it. In the Salestools app there is no one-click CSV of the visitor lists or of attribution, no warehouse export and no scheduled report emails.
  • Counts are never complete. Ad blockers and browser tracking protection mean some visits are never seen.

Questions, answered straight

Is Visitor Tracking really free?

Yes. Visitor Tracking and account attribution are free, within the usage limits for your account. Agents, prospect data and sending run on Salestools plans and credits, and adding people to an agent or exporting leads can use credits.

How does Salestools know who is visiting?

Salestools can name a company when the network behind a visit belongs to one, or when a visitor gives a business email in a form. When a visitor types their email into a form on your site they become a person, and Salestools can recognise them when they come back. Matching favours precision, so uncertain matches are left out.

Can it tell me the name of every anonymous visitor?

No. Salestools does not name people it has no record of. A person is named only after they give you their email in a form. When they return to your site they can be recognised as a returning contact, which is a best match and can be wrong. Many real visits stay unidentified: home, mobile, VPN and shared-office networks usually do not point to a company.

What can agents do with a visitor?

Select identified people with an email on the People tab and add them to an AI agent that starts from your contacts. It researches the account, writes outreach and follows up on email and LinkedIn. In CoPilot you approve every message; in AutoPilot it sends within the limits you set. You can also find more people at a visiting company. See AI sales agents.

How is attribution different from web analytics?

Account attribution connects website visits to what happened next. It puts website visits from matched companies, outbound email, LinkedIn, calls, meetings and CRM stages on one timeline per account and shows how credit is shared across the touches before a reply, meeting, opportunity or won deal.

Do I need Salestools for outbound to use attribution?

Attribution works with your website visits and CRM deals. The first-reply stage, outbound email and LinkedIn touches, calls and the teammate who reached out appear when you run that outreach from Salestools.

Which CRMs does it work with?

Deal stages and value come from Salesforce and HubSpot. A deal needs an account domain so it can be matched to the companies that visit your site. Lead export also supports Microsoft Dynamics.

How fast does data show up?

When a visit comes from a company network, Salestools usually names the company within seconds of the page view, and if you have connected Slack, it can post an alert for a visitor it can name. The Visitor Tracker in the app is not a live feed: it shows visits when you open or refresh it and can trail your site by a few minutes, and its recent-visitors list covers the last 30 minutes. Attribution imports about every 30 minutes, and CRM deals are pulled about hourly, so a stage can trail your CRM by an hour or more. Email and LinkedIn sends can take longer to appear.

Do I get alerts when someone visits?

Only in Slack, and only for visitors Salestools can name. Slack alerts are set up in a separate Salestools visitor tool at marketing.salestools.io, with its own sign-in, not inside app.salestools.io. Once Slack is connected and a channel is chosen, Salestools posts when a visit is matched to a company, when someone identifies themselves on your site, or when a known visitor returns. Visits that cannot be named do not trigger an alert, and a visitor triggers at most one new-visitor and one returning-visitor alert per hour. There are no email or push alerts, no alert rules such as alerting on a specific page, and no outbound visitor webhooks.

Can I export my visitors?

In the Salestools app there is no one-click CSV of the visitor lists or of attribution. To take visitors with you, hand identified people (with an email) to an AI agent that starts from your contacts. They are saved to My Leads, which exports to CSV, HubSpot, Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics, at 1 credit per lead. Handing someone to an agent also enrols them in that agent. You can also build an audience of people already in My Leads who visited your site or a page and download it as a CSV. On the Team and Pod plans, MCP can read your visitor companies, identified people and account journeys, and the API (Pod plan) can too, with credits used for each newly revealed person or company. What is included depends on your plan.

What about cookies, consent and privacy?

Visitor tracking uses cookies and browser storage and records visitors’ IP addresses and device information. The script does not show a consent banner or wait for consent, so if the law where your visitors are requires consent, load it through your own consent tool. You are responsible for telling your visitors and getting consent where required. Read the privacy policy and terms. Visitors who want their data removed can email info@salestools.io.

How do I install it?

Add one script tag to the head of your site, or publish it through your tag manager. It works on any site where you can add a script. The app generates the tag with your key filled in.

See which companies visit. Put an agent on it.

Add one script tag and see which companies visit.
