Leadership background
Johnson most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of Cable One, Inc., where he oversaw Residential and Business Services, Technology Services, Field and Call Center Operations, and Digital Evolution and Integration for a company serving more than one million customers across 24 states. He joined Cable One in 2018 after its acquisition of NewWave Communications, where he was Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer, and earlier held Chief Technology Officer roles at SureWest Communications and Everest Broadband. The company said he brings more than 30 years of telecommunications and broadband industry experience.
The mandate
Johnson said he looks forward to building on the momentum Fish and the entire Bluepeak organization have created, completing the fiber transformation of Bluepeak communities, and continuing to expand access to connectivity across the communities Bluepeak serves. GI Partners’ Mark Prybutok, Managing Director and Head of Data Infrastructure, said Johnson’s operational expertise and record of scaling broadband businesses make him the right leader for Bluepeak’s next phase of growth.

Executive appointments can precede changes in strategy, operating cadence, hiring, partnerships, and technology priorities. The useful signal is not the title alone: teams should watch the new leader’s stated mandate, prior playbook, organizational scope, and the initiatives announced during the first two quarters.
