Albemarle Appoints Ragnar Udd President and Chief Executive Officer

Leadership background
Udd has over 25 years of experience leading global resources businesses in geographies including Australia, Asia, and North and South America. At the time of the announcement he was serving as Chief Commercial Officer of BHP and as a member of its executive leadership team. His earlier roles included President Americas, where he led BHP’s copper and potash businesses, and interim Chief Technology Officer.
The mandate
Albemarle’s Lead Independent Director Gerald Steiner said Udd brings commercial and operational expertise in natural resources and described him as the right leader to capitalize on the company’s portfolio and operational capabilities to unlock long-term value for shareholders. Udd said he will work with Masters, the leadership team and the board to build on the company’s foundation in its Energy Storage and Specialties business segments.
